L\u2019\u00e9crivain nig\u00e9riane examine les situations concr\u00e8tes qui se pr\u00e9sentent aux parents d\u2019une petite fille et explique comment d\u00e9jouer les pi\u00e8ges que nous tend le sexisme, \u00e0 travers des exemples tir\u00e9s de sa propre exp\u00e9rience. J’ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9couvert la plume de l’autrice \u00e0 travers son essai Nous sommes tous des f\u00e9ministes<\/em><\/a>.<\/i> C’est un discours court et efficace, qui pousse \u00e0 remettre en question nos habitudes. Dans Ch\u00e8re Ijeawele, c’est sous forme de lettre qu’elle s’adresse \u00e0 l’une de ses amies. Celle-ci lui demande comment donner une \u00e9ducation f\u00e9ministe \u00e0 sa fille. Et c’est vraiment \u00e9difiant ! Cette lettre est incroyable. Elle est forte, puissante m\u00eame, et je passais mon temps \u00e0 en lire des extraits \u00e0 mon ch\u00e9ri, en mode \u00ab\u00a0Mais c’est si vrai !\u00a0\u00bb. Voil\u00e0 la puissance des mots de\u00a0Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie. Elle va droit au but. Ne prend pas de d\u00e9tours. Et souligne ses propos par des exemples dans lesquels on peut se reconna\u00eetre, pour la plupart. Bien s\u00fbr, il ne faut pas oublier qu’elle s’adresse \u00e0 une amie nig\u00e9riane. Nous en apprenons donc aussi sur leur culture, et leurs traditions, qui sont diff\u00e9rentes des n\u00f4tres. Lorsqu’elle parle des mots dont nous usons au quotidien, j’ai \u00e9t\u00e9 particuli\u00e8rement frapp\u00e9e. Sur cette fa\u00e7on que nous avons d’appeler nos petites filles \u00ab\u00a0Princesse\u00a0\u00bb, parce que c’est mignon. Cela sous entend surtout qu’elle doit attendre le prince charmant. Qu’elle va se marier et sera alors accomplie. Et seulement \u00e0 ce moment l\u00e0, apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es de recherche, de belles tenues, de biens\u00e9ance…<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Cette lettre nous permet de nous remettre en question. De nous rendre compte de ce que l’on attend de la vie, et ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 fa\u00e7onn\u00e9 par la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Par exemple, c’est mon petit ami qui m’a demand\u00e9 en mariage. Je le voulais comme cela, parce qu’on me l’avait inculqu\u00e9, longuement, que c’est comme \u00e7a que se passe ce moment romantique. De toute fa\u00e7on, je n’avais pas assez confiance en moi, j’avais trop peur qu’il dise non, ou de para\u00eetre trop entreprenante, de lui forcer la main… C’est dr\u00f4le que cela ait \u00e9t\u00e9 mon cas, mais pas le sien. Par ce genre d’argumentation, l’autrice nous d\u00e9montre que le f\u00e9minisme nous touche tous et toutes. Et que nous devrions nous battre pour une \u00e9galit\u00e9 des genres dans tous les domaines, et surtout dans les id\u00e9es re\u00e7ues.<\/p>

Cet essai doit \u00eatre lu par tous, et peut-\u00eatre m\u00eame d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00eatre propos\u00e9 au programme scolaire, \u00e0 un \u00e2ge assez jeune. celui o\u00f9 les adolescent.e.s ne sont pas encore fa\u00e7onn\u00e9s par les pr\u00e9suppos\u00e9s de nos soci\u00e9t\u00e9s patriarcales. Puissante, efficace, la plume de\u00a0Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie touche et permet de se remettre en question. Indispensable !<\/p>
