Apr\u00e8s un retournement de situation inattendu, le joueur de baseball vedette Easton Wylder en vient \u00e0 douter de la loyaut\u00e9 de tous les membres de son entourage. M\u00eame de celle de Scout Dalton, la femme qui partage sa vie.
Mais si Easton pensait qu’un d\u00e9racinement dans un lieu improbable serait le seul d\u00e9fi que la vie lui r\u00e9servait, il se trompait du tout au tout. Avec une \u00e9paule bless\u00e9e et une carri\u00e8re sur la touche, sa brusque d\u00e9cision de tout changer le conduit \u00e0 douter de tout \u2013 de l’amour de Scout, de la loyaut\u00e9 des membres de sa famille et de sa propre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 affronter un obstacle qu’il n’a jamais r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 surmonter jusque -l\u00e0. Un secret qu’il n’a jamais partag\u00e9 avec personne.

Je vous parlais lundi du premier tome de la duologie The Player<\/a> de K. Bromberg. Lu durant le premier confinement, en plein d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement \u00e9reintant et le moral dans les chaussettes, j’avais besoin de cette histoire. D\u00e9s la derni\u00e8re page du pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent termin\u00e9, j’ai pris en main The Catch et je me suis lanc\u00e9e. En m\u00eame temps, sacr\u00e9 cliff-hanger comme sait si bien les faires K. Bromberg ! Incapable de r\u00e9sister, j’ai lu cette suite en un claquement de doigts. Une fois que je me suis attach\u00e9 aux h\u00e9ro.ines de ses r\u00e9cits, je veux les accompagner de bout en bout.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

3 ans apr\u00e8s, que reste-t-il ?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Ce que je trouve toujours d\u00e9licat \u00e0 faire, lorsqu’il s’agit d’une duologie, c’est d’\u00e9crire une chronique sur le deuxi\u00e8me et dernier tome. La peur de spoiler, notamment. C’est d’ailleurs pour cela que j’avais parl\u00e9 des deux en une chronique dans un bazar litt\u00e9raire<\/a> sur l’ancien blog ! Mais du coup, celui-ci ne m’aide pas vraiment \u00e0 vous en parler ici, plus longuement. C’est ce qui est int\u00e9ressant : quels souvenirs me laisse un roman 3 ans apr\u00e8s ? Est-il inoubliable ? Je n’irai pas jusque l\u00e0. Mais je me souviens du profond r\u00e9confort que j’ai ressentie en le lisant. Du rythme auquel je tournais les pages, le d\u00e9vorant. De mes \u00e9motions, impliqu\u00e9es, dans cette romance. Et cela, pour moi, est gage de qualit\u00e9.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Je lui ai d’ailleurs mis un 18\/20 sur Livraddict<\/a>, alors que j’avais donn\u00e9 la note de 16 \u00e0 The Player. The Catch est donc bien un cran au-dessus, nous embarquant dans la deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 de ce r\u00e9cit avec brio. Je me souviens de Scout et de son p\u00e8re. D’elle et Easton, dans le parc. Je revis \u00e9motionnellement les parties de base-ball. Parce qu’on ne peut pas prendre \u00e0 K. Bromberg qu’elle sait dr\u00f4lement bien \u00e9crire les histoires de sportifs. Elle et Elle Kennedy sont vraiment mes r\u00e9f\u00e9rences en la mati\u00e8re, mes ind\u00e9tronables, et c’est sans aucun doute pour cela que j’y reviens toujours.
